How sleep affects your hormones

How many of you struggle with sleep?

It’s been something that’s caused me raised anxiety and frustration over a few years until I realised I was causing half the problems with bad habits. Our mind is a muscle we can train like any other muscle so that’s exactly what I did due to what I knew about the body, mind and health connection. If you have children look at the amount of time and effort you put into getting their sleep organised.

During your sleep, your body is hard at work recovering from the previous day and preparing for the next. This process involves producing and regulating many of your body’s hormones.

Hormones are chemical messengers that act as messenger molecules in your body. Hormones are responsible for maintaining your bodily functions.

A good night’s sleep is vital to healthy hormone production and secretion no matter what age you are. Poor sleep quality and short sleep duration can hinder hormone levels, how your hormones are produced, and how they interact with each other. This can lead to hormone imbalance and issues such as like thyroid diseases, sexual dysfunction, and even sleep disorders.
